Como consecuencia de la acumulación de proteína beta-amiloide (placas) y la proteína Tau (ovillos) en el cerebro, las células nerviosas se deterioran y mueren. El Alzheimer es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa que se caracteriza por el deterioro progresivo de las funciones cognitivas, la memoria y las habilidades mentales.

Furthermore, in the illustration, on both sides of the brain, both healthy and diseased neurons can be seen, the latter presenting neurofibrillary tangles, a common characteristic in Alzheimer’s. As a result of the buildup of beta-amyloid protein (plaques) and Tau protein (tangles) in the brain, nerve cells deteriorate and die. Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by the progressive deterioration of cognitive functions, memory, and mental abilities.
